today is apparently my flatmate's half birthday. some people will use the feeblest of excuses for presents and attention. and of course we have to take his word for it cos frankly who is going to bother to work out whether he speaks the truth on this matter? actually, if you are reading this post you surely have too much time on your hands - his actual birthday is may 5th if you're interested in a little mathematical exercise...
